Acquisition of vehicle data
In order to ensure that maintenance during the winter and summer months is carried out as economically and efficiently as possible, the operational data of service vehicles with a variety of tools are recorded in the GPS-equipped Vpad. For this purpose, the Vpad acts as a control console for the winter maintenance spreader machines as well as a data recording and transferring device during the winter and summer months.
In the maintenance service, all the information about the operation is recorded, with details of times and locations. Among other factors, this includes information about the snow clearance and spreading routes, cleaning routes, street/road names and categories, the type of operation, the machinery deployed, the quantity and dosage of de-icing agent, the spread width and the ambient conditions (road surface temperature, air temperature). In this way, the proper execution of traffic safety operations can be substantiated and liability claims can be defended.
Automated acquisition of the data relating to winter maintenance operations – using ‘Vpad’ – guarantees seamless documentation and efficient and economical vehicle management without manual intervention. This is necessary – in conjunction with the BORRMA-web Winter Maintenance Management System – in order to meet the existing and future requirements for a quick, uninterrupted and economical winter maintenance service.
The recorded data are transferred to the BORRMA-web database, either online during the operation or offline after the operation. In this database they are displayed and evaluated for accounting or statistical purposes; they can also be exported in various formats for further processing.
Using the online communication facility, information about the operation and vehicle data can be monitored on the dynamic map while the operation is in progress. This is particularly advantageous in the case of route dynamic planning of the operations or the reassignment of operational priorities.
