Pavement sensors are used by Road Weather Information Systems in winter conditions in order to measure the surface status (dry, moist, wet), its temperature as well as the freezing point temperature of the mixture water / de-icing agent (typically salt) present at its surface.
This information is of paramount importance to the winter service managers and has to be provided with the maximum accuracy, so that appropriate resources can be used at the best moment. The ultimate goal is to guarantee a maximum security of the pavement while saving on product and protecting the environment.
The Boschung company has been designing revolutionary technologies for more than twenty years to guarantee the accuracy of these measurements. These technologies are constantly being optimized.
In order to demonstrate again the quality of its products in an extremely severe environment, Boschung has tasked the German Federal Highway Research Institute to test its BOSO and ARCTIS sensors used in its Road Weather Information Systems.
The excellent results further establish Boschung as a world leader for traffic surface condition management!
Even better: With an accuracy better than 0.5 K in the freezing point temperature measurement for the range 0°C to -15°C, the ARCTIS sensor far outreaches all its competitors, and already meets the extremely high requirements of the future European Standard prEN15518-3!
